Retired to Barnstable Village in 1998 after a 40 year healthcare career in New Jersey, California and Nebraska. She held senior executive positions as chief of major hospitals and president/CEO of one of the nation's largest healthcare systems. During that period she held academic appointments as adjunct clinical professor of health administration at the Universities of California and Nebraska. Over four decades she has demonstrated high professional skills as planner, negotiator, administrator, educator and provider of superior customer service.
Claus serves on the board of Cape Cod Healthcare Corporation, is past president of the Sturgis Library and of the Cranberry Weavers Guild. She recently retired after 15 years on the board of trustees of Mount Holyoke College, the last five years of which she was chairman. She graduated from Mount Holyoke with a B.A., earned her R.N. from Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and a M.S.N. from University of Pennsylvania.
